Abstract

The author establishes the psychologically relevant content of the basic value “Harmonie / harmony” in German and Russian linguocultures, comparing the content of basic values in different linguocultures. Based on a comparison of data from lexicographic sources (including etymological data) and data from a free associative experiment. As the main method of research, a free associative experiment is used, conducted with carriers of German and Russian linguistic culture aged 17 to 23 years. The results obtained showed that harmony is a basic value that is in the same rank with other important values: love, family, happiness. Harmony is associated in German and Russian linguocultures with different semantic spheres, is realized in interpersonal relationships, and differs significantly from the definitions presented in lexicographic sources.
